Get your merchant service statements out, or your business reports. And determine the number of transactions (or orders) you process in a month.

 

Major Card Brands

Your PCI DSS level depends on your annual number of Credit Cards you process for each card brand. A card brand is VISA or MasterCard. You will want to review your statements for the card brand you transact the most of, say for example VISA cards, and work with those numbers.

Take your monthly transactions and multiple by 12 to get your annual amount of VISA cards.

There are 4 levels. Most merchants are level 4

* Level 1 - over 6,000,000 (million) card transactions per brand.
* Level 2 - over 1,000,000 (million) card transactions per brand.
* Level 3 - over 20,000 (thousand) card transactions per brand.
* Level 4 - 1 to 19,999 (thousand) card transactions per brand.
