Step 1 Process credit card transactions online or over the phone by setting up a merchant account with PayPal. Go to www.paypal.com and click on the "Business" tab; next click on the "Merchant Services" link. Step 2 Decide on the payment solution you need to accept credit cards on a website, by phone or by invoicing with online payments. Step 3 Go to the "Products & Services" tab on PayPal and look at the various merchant account options offered. Step 4 Choose from the Website Payments Standard, Website Payments Pro and Payflow Payment Gateway merchant solution options. Step 5 Click on the "Apply Now" button. Follow the steps to apply; use your existing PayPal account or create a new one. Fill in the Social Security number of the business owner or federal tax ID number, as well as any sales data information. Step 6 Review your information and confirm your product and services selections. Provide your billing information for credit card processing. Step 7 Wait at least two business days for your merchant application to be approved. Step 8 To process transactions using a credit card terminal, go to www.gotmerchant.com and click on the "Merchant Account Solutions" tab; next click on "Retail Merchant Accounts." Step 9 Click on the "Point of Sale Credit Card Machines" link and choose the credit card terminal that best suits your business needs and your budget. Step 10 Go to the "Sign Up Now" tab at https://www.gotmerchant.com/apply/ and fill out the online application; click on the "Submit" button. |
