Running a fleet of vehicles can be a difficult job because there are so many costs involved including, but not limited to, vehicle maintenance, insurance, employee salaries, etc. One of the costs that can really damage a business is the fuel costs. Therefore, it is incredibly important to be able to manage fleet fuel costs. The old-fashioned way would be to use a pencil and paper, but in this day and age, there are software and GPS that can do it for you.

Managing Fleet Fuel Costs

  • Step 1

Purchase either the FuelZone or FuelZone Lite program from CoenCorp. These programs are hands off pieces of software that track every drop of fuel that your fleet of vehicles uses. The FuelZone program (not the Lite) offers wireless installation and much more control and information on how much fuel is being used as well as which vehicles are using how much fuel. A good feature that the FuelZone program has that the Lite doesn't is an automatic turn-off feature for any gas pumps. This makes waste nonexistent.

  • Step 2

Set up the FuelZone program so that it is configured to your vehicles. The wireless software will keep track of the amount of fuel that is being consumed by the vehicle if the driver is driving at higher speeds. Furthermore, it'll ensure that the car is called in for more fuel if it needs it so that the car continues to run smoothly.

  • Step 3

Review all information to check for any errors in it. Because some drivers are more reckless, by keeping track of fuel consumption based on each vehicle's history, you'll be able to better gauge if the vehicle is a gas guzzler or if the driver is simply not driving as conservatively as he/she should.
