To build a business, you must have a professional-looking order form for customers to use. After all, the whole reason for starting a business is to sell the product and make a profit. Standard order forms are easy to make and can be expanded or altered as your company expands. |

Step 1 Open a new document in a word processing or spreadsheet program on the computer. Step 2 Type or paste the company name and logo at the top of the form. Step 3 Skip a few lines and then type the word "Name" followed by a colon. Skip a line and type the words "Company or Organization" followed by a colon. Skip a line and type the words "Mailing Address" followed by a colon. Skip three lines and then type the words "Phone Number" followed by a colon. Skip one line and then type the words "Email Address" followed by a colon. Step 4 Skip two lines and then create four columns with the headings of "Product Name," "Quantity," "Price per Unit," and "Total Price." Step 5 Create at least four horizontal lines on which the customer can write all of the required information from Step 4. Step 6 Underneath the lines for the order information, type the words "Total Cost of All Merchandise." Step 7 Directly underneath the words in Step 6, type "Sales Tax" and add any applicable information about the state's sales tax policy (e.g. "add 7% sales tax for New Jersey residents"). Step 8 Directly underneath the words in Step 7, type "Shipping Costs." Step 9 Directly underneath the words in Step 8, type "Grand Total, including Shipping." Step 10 Make sure that customers know to whom the checks should be made out by typing that your company information along the bottom of the page. Here you can also request that customers do not send cash. Step 11 Print a copy of the order form you just created to make sure that the spacing and wording is exactly the way you want it to be. Make any necessary changes. Step 12 Once the form has been perfected, print a few copies to have on hand in case someone asks for an order form. Step 13 Save the order form to your company's server and advise the sales staff that an order form has been created and should be put to use immediately. Step 14 Save a copy on your hard drive, as well as on a flash drive. |
