Select a business card design website. Many printing and design companies offer free business card design utilities on their websites. Look at three or more websites to find one that you like. Start with VistaPrint, Zazzle and DCP Print (see Resources).

Select a basic business card template. Online business card design utilities generally allow you to choose from a dozen or more templates, some for horizontal designs and some for vertical designs.

Type your information into the appropriate boxes on the design utility. At minimum, enter your business name, postal address, phone number, fax number and web site address.

Type in personal information. Include your name, job title, and, if applicable, direct contact information such as your direct phone number, email address and instant message name.

Select text colors and fonts. Online business card design utilities allow you to customize their pre-built templates and may suggest fonts and colors that work best with a given template.

Add graphics to the business card. Depending on the template you have selected, you may be able to upload your own logo.

Add information to the back of the business card if the design utility allows it. Choose information that customers and prospective customers might find useful, such as a calendar or a list or prices for your products or services.

Review the final version of your new business card online. Check to confirm that you have typed all information accurately.

Download your new business card design or place an order for the cards online depending on your personal preference.
