Step 1 Call the IRS at (800) 829-1040 and request the Small Business Tax Kit #454 or visit the IRS website. Step 2 Apply for an EIN online. Go to irs.gov, click on the business tab, look under the Business Topics menu and click on the "Employer ID Number" link. Step 3 Click on the link "Apply" for an EIN Online. Step 4 Read all the information on the page and scroll down near the bottom of the page and click the "APPLY ONLINE NOW" link. Step 5 Read the EIN Assistant information and instructions then click the "Begin Application" button. Step 6 To apply by phone, mail or fax go to irs.gov. Click on the "Business" tab, then click the "Starting a Business" link in the menu. Step 7 Go to the Employer Identification Number ink, then click on "How to Apply for an EIN". Step 8 View the options and instructions on applying toll free by phone, by mail or fax. Choose the option that best suits you. |
